Cambodian Investor Seeks Justice in Alleged Multi-Million Dollar Fraud by Company Chairman
(Phnom Penh) – A shareholder of YY Capital Partners Co., Ltd. has appealed to the Ministry of Justice of Cambodia, calling for intervention in a case involving the company’s Chairman, Yamada Taihei, who faces allegations of large-scale financial misconduct.
The shareholder claims that Yamada Taihei, a Japanese national, abused his position to misappropriate funds, manipulate property transactions, and defraud investors. Early investigations suggest that approximately USD 4 million may have been diverted for personal gain.
According to the appeal, Yamada allegedly made unilateral decisions without shareholder approval, fabricated business deals including loans totaling more than USD 7 million, forged documents, and channeled funds through multiple shell companies he controlled. Part of the allegedly misappropriated money was reportedly transferred abroad to an account under his wife’s name.
The investor also alleges that Yamada set up numerous shell companies in Cambodia, Japan, Malaysia, and Singapore, appointing nominees as official representatives while maintaining full control over all financial activities.
In Cambodia, Yamada has already been charged in at least two criminal cases, with several assets and bank accounts frozen by court orders. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities in other countries, including China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the United States, are reportedly reviewing his financial activities in connection with embezzlement, document forgery, and possible money laundering.
The shareholder’s letters stress the importance of a thorough and impartial investigation, noting concerns that influential figures could potentially interfere with the judicial process, intimidate witnesses, or destroy evidence.
Through the appeal, the shareholder urges Cambodian authorities to ensure justice is served, hold the accused accountable, and protect the rights of investors and shareholders.
